By His Excellency's Command,
Dated the 13th day of January, 1936.
W. T. SOUTHORN,
Colonial Secretary.
Items the cost of which can be met wholly or in part by Savings from other sub-heads of the head are marked with an asterisk (*). The source and extent of the Savings will be found in the explanation of the individual items.
MEMORANDA EXPLAINING THE ITEMS.
Estimates, 1935.
113.-28, Miscellaneous Services:-40, Rent Allowance, Senior
Officers
Provision made in Estimates (page 91 sub-head 40)...$ 110,000
These rent allowances are based on a fixed sum less a percentage of the officers' salary. Owing to the shrinkage of the dollar equivalent of salaries consequent on the rise in exchange during the first ten months of the current year, the deductions have been less than was anticipated. A vote for $25,600 is now requested to cover the resultant excess expenditure under this sub-head.
